Wannamaker County Park
Wannamaker Count Park is a large Charleston County park located in North Charleston. At over 1,000 acres, the park has plenty of winding trails for humans and their canine companions. It also has an off-leash dog park with separate sections for small and large dogs. All well-behaved dogs and their owners are welcome to use the dog park. Dogs must be on leashes when outside of the dog park.

Mount Pleasant Palmetto Island County Park
Mount Pleasant Palmetto Island County Park boasts a large 50 foot observation tower where guests can watch the local wildlife. For people and their canine companions, the large park is also home to a dog park and like the park at Wannamaker, this one is an off-leash area with separate sections for small and large dogs.

James Island County Park
James Island County Park is top dog when it comes to dog parks in Charleston. The four acre dog park is an enormous, open meadow where dogs can run and play. This is an off-leash facility so owners can just let their dogs go inside the enclosure. Even better, the dog park also has several beaches where dogs and their owners can take a dip in the water. Two-legged visitors need to pay one dollar as an entrance fee, but admission is free for all four-legged friends.

Sky Dogs Family Dog Park
One of the most unique dog parks in the area, Sky Dogs Family Dog Park provides more than just an open area for your dog to enjoy. With doggie daycare, holiday costume parties, dog grooming, and even training classes, this is a place you and your dog will enjoy visiting on a regular basis. Does your dog enjoy diving off the docks? At Sky Dogs, your friend can jump, swim, and then wash them off before heading home. The facility is closed on Mondays but stays open late throughout the week so even if you work late, you and your dog can get in some much needed down time and exercise. There is a fee for admission but by purchasing the park pass, you can come and go as you please without having to remember the amount to pay each time.

Nature in Motion
Locally-owned Nature in Motion is not an average pet store featuring puppies and kittens. This shop caters to exotic animals, so expect to find huge water monitors and hairy bird eater tarantulas inside its walls. No other store in Charleston can compete with Nature in Motion when it comes to reptile supplies. Oddly enough, this is also one of the best places in town to host a kid's birthday party. Guests can get their picture taken with an assortment of wild and exotic animals, and it's an experience kids remember for years. The owners also perform wildlife presentations at local schools and other events.

Who says only people need to eat healthy foods? At All is Well, animals get the best nature has to offer. This holistic pet store features holistic, all natural food products for dogs and cats, after all healthy pets live longer, and All is Well wants all pets to be healthy ones. All staff members are educated animal professionals who are ready to offer helpful advice to pet owners about food allergies and healthy pet diets. The store even offers pet supplements to provide essential vitamins and nutrients to dogs and cats. This locally-owned pet food chain had three different locations around the city in order to best serve its customers but has recently closed their Mount Pleasant location. Their high quality products can still be found in their other two stores in the Charleston area.

Like the All is Well pet chain, Bark and Meow specializes in natural pet foods for a healthier, happier pet.
