Learn the Rules
Many neighborhoods already have HOAs established that have rules about things like landscaping and lawn care, as well as curb appeal, water useage expectations, pet restrictions and more. Getting acquainted with these expectations early will help you ease into your neighborhood smoothly.

Do as The Romans Do
Neighborhood walks, cookouts and potlucks, sporting events and more are all great ways to introduce yourself to the area and eventually become part of its culture. Got a 5 p.m. Barre class that’s free for residents? Join it. Tuesday night poker games at the nearby community center? Go for it! You have nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain.
