Waterloo Estates: 5 Ways Johns Island Homesites Preserved the Lowcountry

What sets Crescent Homes apart from other builders is our commitment to preserving as much of the existing natural beauty of our communities as possible. Waterloo Estates, on Johns Island, SC, is no exception.

Below are just a few major ways in which we strive to preserve a little piece of the Lowcountry in every home built:

1. The Local Advantage

By working with the locally owned and operated builder, Crescent Homes, know that you’re also working with people who have a thorough understanding of the landscape around them. Many of us have fished these waters, camped in these forests and grown up admiring much of the untouched beauty the area has to offer.

2. Environment First

Instead of providing clear-cut lots that have all but lost the character of what they once were, we offer wooded homesites, up to 1+ acre, that help to preserve the natural aesthetic of the area. This means a more organic living space that includes natural wetlands, walking trails, and grand oak trees throughout, for you and your family when it comes time to start customizing your home site.

3. Modern Innovations

Our commitment to innovation can be seen throughout your new home. From the quality construction and the host of green features that come standard in each one of our homes, to the guarantee that all homes will have a 75 or higher on the Home Energy Rating System. Other builders just can’t compare.

4. Eco-Friendly Materials

Speaking of green features, each home is constructed and then equipped the best, environmentally friendly materials that the industry has to offer. They include, but aren’t limited to:

Radiant Energy Barriers - Our radiant barrier decking keeps your attic cooler by deflecting heat from the sun. A cooler attic environment improves the operating efficiency of your air conditioning system. This also helps lower your utility usage.

Tankless Water Heaters - Up to 50% more energy efficient than a traditional natural gas water heater and up to 70 % more efficient than an electric water heater – and they take up less space.

Low-E Windows - Low-E coatings on windows reduce energy loss by as much as 30-50% over regular windows. They also prevent ultra-violet (UV) rays from passing through the glass, reducing premature fading to your furnishings and flooring.

Low-VOC paints and finishes - Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are found around the home; cleaning solvents, adhesives, paints, and carpets all may emit VOCs.  Crescent Homes only uses low VOCs paints and finishes to help ensure indoor air quality.

5. Beyond the Standard

We feel that it is our responsibility to push the envelope in energy efficient and new environmentally friendly practices.  This commitment serves both the environment and you, the customer, because your new home will perform better, be more comfortable, and save your hard earned money.

Crescent Homes understands the importance of preserving the natural beauty and landscape that helps make the Charleston, SC area so irresistible, so we make it our mission to convey that in the homes, neighborhoods and communities we create.
